Introduction to the Party Wall etc. Act 1996: One day
If you work in housing then there is no doubt you have at some point been served a notice. Because of the lack of understanding, it is not unusual to sign the ‘Agreed Surveyor’ and send it back. There is nothing wrong with this and as a company working on Party Walls, we act in this role often, but there are options available which may sometime be more beneficial.
This one day introduction is sure to give you a good understanding on the workings of the party wall Act. We cover the most common sections, covering serving notice, replying, your rights as the building owner (serving notice to carrying out works) or the Adjoining Owner (receiving notice) from the building owner. We look at the costs, the pitfalls and the benefits and as with all our classroom courses, we carry out a mock exercise on serving or replying and look at what a condition survey should cover.
